MOUSAVI RUG

All-Wool Collection

Iranian Handmade Rugs

All materials used in rugs of this collection are wool, and their weaving density ranges from 20 to 40 knots per square inch. These rugs are mostly woven by the Baloch, Turkmen, Qashqai, and Bakhtiari tribes, which reside in Sistan and Baluchestan, Khorasan, Fars, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari regions, respectively. The design of Baloch and Turkmen rugs consists of repeating a single motif throughout the rugs. These repeated motifs in Turkmen rugs are typically simple geometric shapes (such as lozenges and octagons), while in Baloch rugs, they are predominantly floral motifs (such as boteh jeghe).
