MOUSAVI RUG

Cotton-Wool Collection

Iranian Handmade Rugs

The rugs in this collection are exclusively made from wool and cotton fibers, but sometimes, to enhance the beauty of the rug patterns, certain points are adorned with silk. The weaving density of these rugs ranges from 25 to 55 knots per square inch. These rugs are mostly woven in cities of Heriz (Heris), Bijar, Nain, Kashan, Ardakan, Abadeh, Hamadan (Jozan & Azandarian), Il-Qashqai in Fars Province, and I1-Bakhtiari in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province. The “Heriz”, “Riz Mahi”, and “Medallion Corner” patterns are among the most famous designs of cotton-wool rugs. Rugs woven by the Qashqai and Bakhtiari tribes feature a wide variety of designs, with the “Modern Plain” and “Yalame” patterns being the most famous designs of Qashqai rugs, and the “Golfarang” and “Kheshte Shida” patterns being the most famous designs of Bakhtiari rugs.
